Re: Unix Identity Management on SBS 2003 R2

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

In discussions that the MVPs have had with the SBS product team, I don't recall this topic (Identity Management for Unix) ever coming up. Based on what's been shared by them in the past, I didn't get the impression that there is a significant market share of SBS networks with major UNIX activity going on. But it can certainly be brought up to get their feedback on support for Unix "integration"

Does that include Small Business Server? I can't speak for others,
but it is convenient to be able to manage one's Unix user and group ID
mappings with Active Directory. (I am aware that with Samba's RID
idmap backend, AD support for Unix attributes isn't strictly
necessary.) I wouldn't mind having NFS support in future versions of
SBS, but that's secondary compared to the Identity Management
features.

Best wishes,
Matthew
