It appears your talking internal access to companyweb? Why is there a need
for a user to be prompted for username and password? You should disable this
for internal access and for external you should be using SSL.

I'm running Sharepoint 2.0. I've added a user from Active Directory,
gave them reader access, and they still can't access our companyweb
page.
I went through the administration of Sharepoint and re-added
the user, but still nothing. A prompt from username/password comes
up, when I enter another valid user, the companypage is displayed
without error.
This is consistent on all machines that are a part of this domain.
Thanks,

That's the problem. They shouldn't be prompted for a username/
password if they exist in ADSI and have access as a reader to the
Share Point Portal, which they do.
