Re: Two modems installed, only one showing in Fax Service

After posting my original message I noticed that these modems were
'softmodems'. I had a suspicion that the problem could be related but held
out hope being they are on Microsoft 'designed for windows' list. Is this
modem not usable for the fax service at all or just not more than one at a
time?

Instead of using the US Robotics Driver , try using the Microsoft Standard

I am hoping someone can shed some light on this problem.

I have two modems installed on a Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2.
Only
one of the modems is appearing on the Fax Service console and Configure
Fax
Services wizard.

Background:
Purchased 2 USRobotics 56K PCI Faxmodems (p/n USR5670) that were on listed
Windows Server Catalog as compatible.

Installed both modems and able to successfully query both modems in the
device manager.

Installed Fax Service using the SBS 2003 setup disk.

I have tried rebooting, uninstalling and moving the 2nd modem to a new PCI
slot/reinstalling, Uninstalling/reinstalling fax service,
Stopping/Restarting
fax service - but still only one of the modems is showing up in the fax
service.

Modem 1: U.S. Robotics V.92 PCI Faxmodem
IRQ 26, COM4
Modem 2: U.S. Robotics V.92 PCI Faxmodem #3
IRQ 19, COM3

Both using the most recent US Robotics Driver 7.32.0.4.

Anyone run into this issue or have any ideas?

Hi Costas,

These are software modems. They will not work without the USR driver.
