Hello Customer,
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand that Allocated Memory alert is received everyday and they are outdated.
This issue can be caused by that SBS Monitoring and Reporting component
picks old record from database.
I suggest you try following steps to see if it helps:
Suggestion 1: Remove cleanup and reinstall the Monitoring (Health Monitor)
portion of the SBS Components.
==================================================================
1. Go through the Automated install of the SBS Components from add/remove
programs, and change the action on Server Tools to Maintenance.
2. Then change the action on Monitoring to Remove
3. Go into Services, and disable then stop Windows Management
Instrumentation
4. Remove the contents of the C:\Windows\System32\WBEM\Repository
5. Go back into services and set the Windows Management Instrumentation
back to Automatic and start it.
6. Go back through the automated install, and reinstall the Monitoring
Suggestion 2: Prepare a Clean Boot environment.
=================
1. Click Start and Click Run, and in the "Open" line, type in "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks) and click OK.
2. Under the Service tab, check "Hide All Microsoft Services", and then
click "Disable All" button. In this way, we can disable all the services
which belong to third-party programs.
3. Under the Startup tab, click "Disable All" button.
4. Click OK.
5. Choose Yes to restart the computer.
6. Check "Don't show this message or launch the system configuration
utility when Windows starts".
7. Please check if the issue persists in the clean boot environment.
NOTE: We can check on Normal Startup in the General tab to roll back to
Normal Mode after we get this issue resolved.
Suggestion 3:
==========
If you see multiple instances of sqlservr.exe in Task Manager/Processes and
one/more instances is using a large amount of memory. Then please run
tasklist /svc
Get a list of the different SQL/MSDE/WMSDE instances and their process id
numbers.
Then go into Task Manager, click on the Processes tab then click on
View/Select Columns menu option to make sure the PID [process identifier]
option is selected and then look for the different process IDs to see which
process ID is using the memory
If one of the instances appears to be using an unusually large amount of
ram then you may want to configure the instance to a maximum amount of ram
to use.
For example, for the SBSMonitoring instance
osql -E -S %computername%\sbsmonitoring
sp_configure 'show advanced options',1
reconfigure with override
go
sp_configure 'max server memory',nnnn
reconfigure with override
go
exit
Where nnnn is the amount of ram (in mb).
If you have SQL Enterprise Manager you can configure memory settings by
right clicking on the server\instance name and selecting Properties and
then click on the Memory tab.
Suggestion 4: Check message queue:
=======================
1. Open Exchange System manager
2. Expand Server-->YourServerName-->Queues
3. Please check if there is any stuck email in the queue.
I hope the above information is helpful to you. If the problem still
occurs, please help me gather following information:
1. Please open an Allocated memory alert email, click File-->Save As and
save it as a msg file and send it to v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. When the issue happens again, please send me following files
a. Message Tracking screenshot:
========================
1. In ESM, expand "Tools"; select "Message Tracking Center".
2. Search for the allocated memory alert email.
3. Right-click the latest message and click "Track Message".
4. Capture a screen shot and send it to me.
b. Message Tracking Log:
========================
Compress following folder and send it to me
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\YourServerName.log
3. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to my mailbox
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can find what
the root cause is:

concern, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,

| We have a number of clients with SBS and we configure monitoring to
| email alerts to us. I just realized recently that these alerts, which
| come pretty much every day, are old alerts. So there will be an
| Allocated Memory alert that is emailed to me every day, but when I
| look at it, the actual date of the alert is August 13. So my question
| is, why does it keep sending emails about the same old alert?
