Re: Server shutdown every Monday morning ?

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Claus,

Yes - what I copied is all there was. It now looks like the problem is
getting worse as the server shut down again today at the same time. There is
obviously 'something' running at this time causing this problem (and as
usual, the client is breathing down my neck as it's all my fault :). The one
thing that is consistent is a ream of Powerchute errors (battery low, power
failed on agent etc) just before the shutdown so I am going to uninstall
that software and also take the UPS out of the equation. I'll post back!

Regards Colin.

Hi Claus,

That's all there is, no more information in the logs.

Hi Claus,

Is this what you're after ?

The process winlogon.exe has initiated the power off of computer
SERVER01
on
behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Legacy API
shutdown
Reason Code: 0x80070000
Shutdown Type: power off

Regards Colin.

Hi,

One of my client's SBS 2003 (Standard, single NIC) servers regularly
shuts
itself down between 0400 and 0600 every monday morning. I have
checked
the
logs and all I can find of interest is this entry:

The process winlogon.exe has initiated the power off of computer
SERVER01
on
behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Legacy
API
shutdown

There is nothing running at this time - no virus scanning (Trend CSM
3.6)
,
no backup etc. Has anyone experienced anything like this and if so,
where's
the best place to start looking ?

I get a ream of Power Failed on Server01 errors from APC Powerchute
and
my
first thought was a faulty power supply on site (actually, there is
a
minor
power fluctuation problem but I have another server on the same
floor
with
no
problems).

Any ideas ? Thanks.

Regards Colin.
