Hello,
From my expeariance, 5 users will be fine (There are 5 cals built in).when you add the 4th user and log them on, you will start getting
messages that you are almost out of licences.
You can push past the 5 connected users, but I would suggest no more
than 8-9. Microsoft do have some in built leaniancy but it is not really
the place here to tell you how many. You also should not try and push to
this amount.
The 6th,7th,8th, 9th and 10th users (as examples) will generate heaps of
event logs and popup warnings at the server. If only 5 are logged on at
any time you would be fine. (5 concurrent users). There is no way you
will get to 15 concurrent users. You really need those licences.
Is there a way you can operate on 5 licences for these few days by
logging people on/off and keeping the concurrent limit down ?
Thanks

I ordered a new server with SBS 2003 Std. from Dell which arrived today, a
Friday, and Dell missed putting in my additional 15 CALS. I called Dell,
they placed the order with MS and they say the licenses will ship either
Monday or Tuesday. But I wanted to get this server up and running with my 16
users this weekend. Will I run into any problems with 16 users running off
AD and using Exchange if I cannot enter my additonal CALs until the arrive
about Wednesday? I know it will warn me of this problem, but will it
actually restrict functionality for all but the licensed 5 users? I have
ABSOLUTELY NO desire to circumvent the licensing, only to get this
operational at the convenience of a weekend. My option is to keep them
running on their current SBS2000 server until the licenses arrive, but that
sets my shedule back by one week. Thanks for any insights.
