Thanks to all who responded. I just wanted confirmation about not installing
Outlook. It's beyond my comprehension why Symantec would make a tool that
would force you to install something that would cause problems. According to
what I've learned, this is the ONLY way that part of System Recovery will
work.
I guess I'll just stick with deleted item retention and forget about the
rest.
John, I have a lot of experience with the product and I LOVE it for imaging
the server and restoring is a breeze. It does a great job on restoring to
different hardware. I had a SBS 2003 Premium with all the apps installed and
running on an Intel based box. I restored it to an AMD based box with
different NIC's, controller technology (SATA vs. SCSI), video, HAL, the
works. I was able to restore the box, fix the NIC settings, reboot, correct
the RRAS configuration for which NIC to use, and it was up and fully
functional in 1 hour. Pretty awesome.
How does it work - re you put the image on different hardware, and say
the old and new hardware have different hardware RAID controllers. How
does the image go on the new hardware - given it does not have the
"press F6 to load addtional drivers", RAID controller driver?
Just wondering.
