Mainpine is happy to announce that we have recently released the first
analog intelligent PCI-Express fax board that is fully compatible with
the Microsoft Fax Service that is included with Windows XP/2003 SBS/
2003 Standard/2003 Enterprise/Vista and Windows 2008 Standard and
Enterprise operating systems.
We have done extensive product development and testing with the built-
in fax software to make sure it is fully compatible with all old and
new fax machine devices.
We have tested the software/hardware solution against hundreds of
simulated fax machines, and a full array of real fax machines. We
focused primarily on fax machines that have caused problems with fax
modems and other 3rd party intelligent fax boards. We have published
a lab report of our efforts which can be found here:

The IQ Express intelligent fax board has 4 configurations: 1 port, 2
ports, 4 ports, or 8 ports. All 4 of these also ship with a low
profile bracket or a standard bracket. It is also a short board, so
all 4 can fit into any PCI-Express slot available. It works with x1,
x4, x8, and x16 PCI-Express slots.
The Microsoft Fax software also has port licensing in place. The
Windows XP and Vista fax software is licensed for a single port
device. Windows 2003/2008 SBS and Standard are licensed for 4 ports.
Windows 2003/2008 Enterprise Edition is licensed for unlimited fax
ports.
Although the Microsoft Fax Service software is low on features
compared to some 3rd party fax servers, it can be used for some very
useful applications. Fax broadcasting across multiple ports works
very well and is user friendly. The network fax client interface is
simple to roll out and works well. Inbound fax handling is limited,
but each line is able to route faxes to a unique email address,
network folder, network printer, or just keep the faxes in the main
server inbox. Outbound faxing from network client machines is done by
printing your document to a shared fax printer, which will
automatically launch the fax client interface. The IQ Express does
support a variety of 3rd party fax applications as well, so if more
features are needed there is a path available to change to another
application.
We are also able to provide technical support for the solution, since
we have a lot of experience with the interface, and we have the
ability to read the low level t.30 debug logs that are generated
automatically by the fax software if a fax should fail.
This board has been available since August of 2007, and we already
have a lot of happy customers that are using this with the Microsoft
Fax software. A press release announcing this solution will soon be
available on the net that includes a few customer quotes.
