Hello all,
I have a perplexing problem with Exchange on SBS 2003. I am using
exchange and the POP3 connector for most of my users, however I have
4 or 5 users out in the field with laptops who are simply popping
their account from their local ISP's. These external users were setup
on the domain so that when they come into the office they can still
access the shared network files on our server. The problem occurs
when an internal user tries to send 1 of the outside users (but with
the same domain) an email.
I have deleted the external users mailboxes from exchange so that the
message don't get caught in there. Also I have checked the setting
'forward all unresolved email to the following address' in the smtp
connector...at the moment I am getting the following error when
trying to send messages to my external users;
'A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to
bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients.
Contact your administrator.' <#5.6.4>
Has anyone run into this?
Thanks in advance - SV
I suggest you do the following:
a) Stop using the POP connector and host your mail on Exchange directly,
creating mailboxes for all your users
b) Have your remote users connect to their Exchange mailboxes using RPC over
HTTP
.
