Re: SBS Monitoring reinstall fails

Hi Robert,

I appreciate your support so far.

As far as I can tell SBS Monitoring is working fine. I double-checked
per your suggestions below, and everything seems to be fine:

1. See the Monitoring and Reporting node in Server Mangement. OK
2. Run the Set Up Monitoring Reports Wizard. OK
3. See the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING in Control Panel. OK
4. See the Monitoring result in the Server Management. - OK

I also get all the server performance, server usage and server alert
emails. So I guess we can assume SBS Monitoring is installed ok.

However, now that I try to install R2 Technologies, it fails with
message: "You must have the Windows SBS 2003 Administration and
Monitoring components installed" and will not start the setup (see
screenshot below). If I select the " I acknowledge all warnings"
checkbox, it won't allow me to continue anyway.

Why does it think that the SBS monitoring is not installed and what
can we do about it?

Thanks,

Hi Bruno,

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't get your e-mail with MPS Report. Please help me collect the
information for further research.

It seems that theMonitoringcomponent was installed successfully, although
a error message appears during the installation.

Based my experience, if themonitoringcomponent didn't install
successfully, we can't do the following:

1. See theMonitoringand Reporting node in Server Mangement.
1. Run the Set UpMonitoringReports Wizard.
2. See the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING in Control Panel.
3. See theMonitoringresult in the Server Management.

Please continuemonitoringto see if you can get Server Performance Report,
Server Usage Report and Alert message.

If you can get all the e-mails, themonitoringcomponent works fine and you
don't need toreinstallSBS 2003 R2.

Hope this helps.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
