Re: SBS Monitoring reinstall fails

Hi Robert...

Thanks for your help.

Since you did not find any critical errors in the logs, I went ahead
and ran the monitoring configuration wizard from the Server
Management | Monitoring and Reporting menu.

I went thru the wizard with no problems. I received emails confirming
the alters setup. However, SBS monitoring was displaying "Page cannot
be displayed" message.

So I went to the default website in IIS and set the ASP.Net to version
1.1.4322 (2.0.50727 was also an option in the dropdown). Now the
monitoring displays fine...so there seem to be no problems with SBS
Monitoring that I can see, despite the error message "An error
occurred while installing Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE). Rerun Setup,
and retry installing Monitoring" we got during setup.

So I guess, unless any issues surface we should be ok for now. If you
agree, I would like to go ahead and reinstall the R2 component, which
I uninstalled trying to fix the MSDE issue. Please confirm if this is
ok to do. Just in case I'm attaching the application log you
requested.

I await your response..

Thanks,

Hi Bruno,

Thanks for your reply.

I researched your MSDE_SBSMontoring.log, the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING
installation was successfully.

In the end of the log, we can found.

[17:44:28:818]: Product: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine --
Installation operation completed successfully.

Although there are some error appearing in the log, that are not fatal and
are common behavior.

I researched other logs: sqlsetup.log and errorlog, there are no related
errors exists. This shows theMonitoringcomponent installation failure is
not caused by MSDE.

Please help me collect the application log and I need to do further
research, thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

To export the application event log:

1) Click Start -> Run, type EVENTVWR.MSC and click OK.
2) Right click the Application Event, select Save Log File as, save it to
evt file.
3) Email me the file

I am looking forward to hear from you.

Best regards,
