How large could this new company be especially in terms of users/computers?

Hello everyone

I haven't taken time to read all posts as yet, so I'm hoping that I'm
in the right place. I have been offered a new job which begins mid
October. I will be working for a brand new business that has had a
substantial injection of cash and my job will be to set up the
infrustructure for the Directors to reach their goals. I have some IT
experience as a Coporate Trainer and have done some Lotus Notes and
Microsoft certifications but never took them any further.

I now have the opportunity to setup this business from scratch - from
the server to the web site, intranet, databases, mobile technologies,
VOIP?, telecommuting etc. Every document, database, policy and
producedure will be developed my myself including the environment that
they live in.

I want to go digital and use the latest technologies wherever possible
and really make use of new innovations - I have the chance because
there is nothing existing at the moment.

Where do I start? What should I be doing to learn how to setup a
server? How do I make sense of all the software options that are out
there?

I know I'll work it out, but I'd love some guidance along the way.
