Re: Help - Sever Status Reports Failing

Les,

If I open the child nodes - they all are fine - no problems.

Sorry, my bad, issreset is a typo - iisreset is the correct command.

But a server restart trumps that, so don't bother to do it now.

What happens if you don't click the Update Services parent item, but instead
click the + sign to expand, and then click one of the child nodes?

I see Terrence has replied to the thread - he'll have access to more cases
and might have the solution.

Frankly, I've had my share of IIS issues with WSUS, and even with CSS help I
haven't been able to resolve them all.

Les,

Thanks for posting ...

I went down your list with no help, except for the last one (issreset) as
it
tells me that this command does not exist.

Also, when I click in the "update" window in the Standdard Management, I
receive a application error.

I restarted the server with no help, and also restarted the Server Reports
from scratch - no help.

I did google the problem, and there have been several posts of this error,
that stem for using SSL for the updates. Some have corrected the problem
by
disabling this, but I am not sure how to do.

I am think of just removeing the WSUS v3, reinstalling v2, what do you
think?

Have you restarted the server recently?

If not, you can try these things ( increasing levels of heavy-hammers).

a) In IIS management | Application Pools > restart either the
DefaultAppPool
or the WsusPool, and see if you can view the server report now in the
Monitoring and Reporting node of Standard Management.

b) From IIS MMC, select your SBS computer object, right click > all tasks
>
restart IIS and wait until the process is completed.

c) From a command prompt, enter "issreset" (without the quotes).

d) restart the server.

In all cases except a), check the services to see that they've all
restarted
successfully.

Les, thanks for getting back to me.

I updated from WSUS v2 to v3 a few weeks ago, and the this problem
seems
to
have started soon after.

I usually use the WSUS console directly from the admin page.

But, I do have an error in the application log for WSUS "self-update
tree"
not working. This error use to be listed in the morning status report,
but
I
still received my report every monring.

I cannot view the report manually anymore (been about a week now), but
I
was
able to.

I also just try to view the node from the Standard Managent - but now
fails
too with a "srcipt error".

I guess I should start down the trouble shooting tree for the WSUS
self-update tree?

What do you think?

Hi Sal,

By the error, it seems it's failing on the SBSUpdate Services
reporting.
Is
SBSUpdate Services functioning correctly? Can you view that node in
Standard
Management without errors?

Are you using the default SBS R2 update services (WSUS v2), or have
you
switched to v3?

Can you view the Server Performance Report manually by clicking on the
Monitoring and Reporting node of Standard Management?

Are all automatic services started?

Any other errors in the event viewer that are related to SBS Update
services, WSUS, or IIS?

Hello SBS'ers,

I have been havine my morning reports failing for the last two -
three
weeks.

I have tried reinstalling the reports, and also, stopping and
restarting
the
service, but in the morning - same results.

I think the report is "timing out" before it can finish, but not
sure.
And
not sure if this can be adjusted or not.

I am uploading the error report, any help would be great.
