Re: Can anyone recomend a good Backup MX service?

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Interesting!

Given your choices, I think I'd look for another MX backup as well. I do not
know what SW equipment you have, but is it possible to exclude the DNSExit
mail server from scans? That way, on the rare occasions that your server is
down and mail is held at DNSExit, when it sends it on to you, it is a
trusted source.

Just a thought (maybe not a good one, but a thought nonetheless!).

Gregg,
Apparently the version of sendmail they use creates a false positive on my
sonicwall for a mail header tampering (Reply To Pipe Sig 1888), as such
the
mail is fine, just my overachieving firewall, and their admission that
certain versions of sendmail cause this.

I host my website with my web architect, I think he uses Godaddy, but it's
a
website only, just use a cname to redirect traffic. I chose it because I
didn't like the previous decission to host internally for various reasons,
plus we occasionally need to work on our server and the fact it is offsite
means it is always up.

I haven't used any other services from DNSExit, but would recomend them as
they've been great for several years. It comes down to cost, $25 MX backup
or
$3000 firewall........ I'm just sorry I have to leave them.

Sean,

What problems do you have with SW and DNSExit?

Do you use DNSExit just for mail backup, or do you use them for hosting
as
well?

I am looking for low-cost web hosting so I do not have to run my own web
server any more. It is on a dedicated 2003 server on a DMZ with UTM
filtering right now, but it is one too many heaters in my office.

Thanks,

I'll look into those services. I wish I could get DNSExit and Sonicwall
to
play nice, but neither will budge. The cost of replacing all my
Sonicwall
gear is insane, so the cheaper solution is to replace DNSExit.

I would whole heartedly recomend DNSExit to anyone looking for this
service
as I used them for years before this .......

I use zoneedit.com for this. It's not free, but it's quite
inexpensive.
And
I've had zero issues with it.

I've been using DNSExit since 2005 and they are GREAT!!!!, but a
recent
update to my sonicwall firewall now prevents me from using their
service
due
to detection/configuration issues. (Each one says it's the
other....)

I'm looking for a good/reliable backup MX service for my single
domain
hosted on an SBS server.

I would prefer a referal from this community over google.......
