Hello Ralph,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you are asked to install
shard printer driver again and again. If I have misunderstood the problem,
please don't hesitate to let me know.
First, this is a hardware related issue. I suggest you contact your printer
vendor for assistance.
Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:
1. Please ensure your printer is in our HCL list:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx
2. Please contact your printer vendor to get the latest driver on the
printer. Then, apply the newest driver on printer server to see if it help.
3. If you install any antivirus software on the client computer, please try
to disable it or uninstall it to test.
4. Please do clean boot on client computer to narrow down this issue:
To clean boot the problematic computer, please use the steps below:
a. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks). Click OK.
b. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
the Selective Startup button.
c. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
Selective Startup.
d. Click the Services tab, click to check the "Hide All Microsoft Services"
box, and remove all the check marks from the remained Non-Microsoft
Services.
e. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
restart your computer in order to enable the changes.
f. After restarting, please check whether this issue will reoccur.
g. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root cause
of this issue.
5. Rejoin the client computer to SBS domain
a. Disjoin the clients from the domain
b. Delete the shared printer
c. Delete the client from Active Directory
d. Join the client to the domain thru connectcomputer wizard
e. Install the printer again.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
1. Does this issue happen on all client computers or several client
computers?
2. Please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures
to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
3. Do you install the printer on SBS?
4. Please try to install any printer on server, and share it. Do you get
the same issue?
5. Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe on the server box.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| My users where printing fine and today they encounter an error printing.
| When printing to a Netwok Printer (Ricoh Aficio 220) they get an error
| stating:
|
| Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.
|
| When I tried adding the printer again by double-clicking the shared
printer
| (Ricoh Aficio 220) a message pops up with the following statement:
|
| The 'Ricoh Aficio 220 PCL' printer driver is not installed on this
computer.
| Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the
| printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?
|
| Normally the server just pushes the driver down to the workstation and
thats
| that. Anyway I went ahead and pointed the driver install wizard to where
the
| driver was and finalized the driver installation. Unfortunately this did
not
| seem to fix the problem as I recived the first message again. And if I
| double-click on the printer share again, sometimes it just hangs but
| ultimatle it goes throu the cycle of asking me to install the driver
again as
| indicated above.
|
| I look forward to any solutions for this issue.
|
| Thanks,
| Ralph R.
