Warning: Beware of Office 2003 Service Pack 3

Hi,

Since installing Office 2003 SP3 (which cannot be removed), none of my
clients can open files created with apps from earlier versions of Office.
The error is, "You are attempting to open a file that was created in an
earlier version of Microsoft Office. This file type is blocked from opening
in this version by your registy policy setting."

There is no informaton available about any registry policy setting to undo
this change, and there is no workaround I can find other than the extremely
labor-intensive necessity to create for each user an "Exempt" directory and
manually edit the registry to add this location. Then the user has to move
the file to that directory before Office apps will open it.

Under the guise of "Security," MS are attempting to force people to upgrade
their Office installs.
