Strange. The non-domain boxes getting an IP from the SBS DHCP server is
normal, but as far as the access thing, that seems strange. I would expect
access to work as it would when connected from a non-domain computer over
VPN. Pass-through authentication would apply. For example, I can connect
my personal laptop (not a domain member) and get an IP from the SBS. Then,
logged in with a (home) workgroup account whose username and password match
my domain account, I can synch my mailbox normally using Outlook.
I haven't tried it, but I don't see how someone could gain access without a
user account on the SBS. And in the absence of pass-through auth, they
should have to enter that domain username and password to access shares.

I'm deploying a new SBS based network and while I'm transitioning
workstations to the domain I realized that the workstations have full
access to all the shares on the servers. After they join the domain this
isn't an issue. The workstations take their IP from the DHCP of the
server while they are still in the workgroup. I think that could be the
issue but I'm not sure.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
