RE: lost folders when adding new user

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that when attempting to add a new user in
Server Management, it said addusr.exe could not be found. After moving the
Administration folder to appropriate path, the original issue was resolved.
However, it still cannot add new users. Failed to save Home folder and
failed to set quota limits.

Actually, the Add User Wizard is composed of the following files from %
SBSProgramDir%\Administration directory:

addusr.exe
Provides the structure of the wizard, parses command line arguments,
checks to determine which administrative access the user/enactor has, and
invokes the Wizard Scripting Engine.

au_accnt.dll
Provides some of the UI for the wizard and provides all of the committer
agents for the wizard.

au_bulk.dll
Maintains the UI for the bulk mode of the wizard.

au_tmpl.dll
Provides part of the UI for the wizard and interfaces with Active
Directory while the wizard runs to populate template-related settings.

Suggest that we reinstall the Add User Wizard. To do so, we can perform the
following steps:

1. Insert the SBS 2003 CD-ROM disc three into your CD-ROM drive.

2. Copy the above four files from the CD-ROM drive letter :\SBS\Admin
folder to your \Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Administration folder.

3. Remove the read-only attribute from each of the files that you copied in
step 2.

4. Open a command prompt, and then navigate to your \Program
Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Administration folder. Run
regsvr32 command to register the four DLLs.

Note: If you have installed the SBS SP1 before, you need to apply the SBS
SP1 again.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. However, if the issue
persists, please help me gather following information:

1. Email me the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Support\add_user_wizard.log from the SBS Server.

2. Please help me capture screenshots of all error messages you encountered
and send them to v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

To capture the image, we can perform the steps below:

(a) When the error message appears, press the Print Screen key several
times (this key is located to the right of the F12 key on the keyboard)
(b) Open Paint ['start' => 'All Programs' => 'Accessories' => 'Paint'].
(c) Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
(d) Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a .jpg or .gif file and send it
to me as an attachment.

3. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to my mailbox
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can find what
the root cause is:

concern, please feel free to let me know.

| I am trying to help a friend administer his server. He is running SBS
2003.
| When I try to add a user throught the Server Manager, I received a
message,
| 'Could not find addusr.exe'. I found the file in a folder called Admin
off of
| the root of the D: drive. I did not expect to find it there. I added it
to
| the path and the wizard starts, but cannot complete the task. When I try
to
| save, I get a message stating unable to save home folder and unable to
set
| quota limits. I believe that this is an environment issue.
|
| My friend has no knowledge of the history of the server. It was there
when
| he bought the business.
|
| Any help would be appreciated.
