Hi Chris and thanks for the info.
Yes, I have tried Windows File Sync in the past and have never found it to
work 100%
Reading up about folder synchronisation controlled by SBS it looks like it
might be the way to go. Especially with some sort of slow link detection in
place.
Anyone using this method with success?

Hey Rob,.
I have been administering an SBS 2003 server for the past 2-3 years in our
office.
We have 25 engineer's with laptops that synchronise offline files over a VPN
connection or locally when they come into the office. Its using windows
synchronise functionality built in.
Its a PITA i can tell you. I have had numerous problems and really wished I
had found another method of doing this. So many engineer's come to me with
problems that, quite frankly are Windows XP issues that never did get sorted
with SP2. Nobody did anything wrong, user, admin or server.
Just my personal experience but i advise you research this area very
carefully and pickup as much info on the side of "what if this doesn't work"
or "what to do when this goes wrong". Rather than focusing on the solution
itself.
If i scared you on the subject, sorry as it wasn't intended. Just a fellow
admin sharing experiences.

hi folks,
Can I ask you opinion on the best method for a laptop user:
I am currently exploring folder redirection/roaming profiles and the
possibilities for use for a laptop which is sometimes taken off site and
connects via an SBS2003 VPN 'connect to sbs' setup.
The VPN setup works well and is curently used for Outlook2003 over VPN mail.
Files stored locally on the laptop. I need files to be sync'd with the
server when a VPN link is up. The files are small docs, excel files etc.
Best way to go about this?
I have just been reading about 'slow link detection' for roaming profiles
and would like this to apply to folder redircetion if also if possible?
Cheers.
