RE: Error 80040300 in icwlog.txt

Hello Reil,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup and also for Merv's input.

From your description, I know that you get the following error in
icwlog.txt:

*** Removing the old certs returned ERROR 80040300
*** CCertCommit::EnableSSL returned ERROR 80040300
*** CCertCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80040300

If that's not right, please don't hesitate to let me know.

First, the problem may be caused by some corrupt SBS component, if the
problem cannot be resolved at last, we need to reinstall Administration and
Client Application component. Thanks for your understanding.

Please take the following steps to see if the problem can be resolved:

Step 1: Based on my research, this issue is caused by secatts.dll file
(corruption or lost).

1. Restore the secatts.dll file from the SBS2003 CD's to the following path:

C:\program files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking

You could find this file at CD#3:\SBS\Connect

2. Open a command prompt: start-->run--->cmd hit ok. Please navigate to
the following path: c:\program files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Networking. And then, please type the following command:

regsvr32 secatts.dll

Run through the CEICW again without router and check if it will fail any
more.

Step 2: The Exchange related virtual directories may be corrupt, please
reset virtual directories according to the KB below and run CEICW wizard
again.

How to reset the default virtual directories that are required to provide
Outlook Web Access, Exchange ActiveSync, and Outlook Mobile Access services
in Exchange Server 2003

If the problem persists, please help me collect the following information
for further research:

1. icwlog.txt

2. MPS Report

1) Download the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE from the following link and then run
this tool to gather some information from the problematic computer:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
2) Double-click on the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE file.
[Note] This process may take some time; however, it will not have a
negative effect on the performance.
3) A CAB file will be generated in the
%systemroot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab directory called
%COMPUTERNAME%_MPSReports.CAB. The CAB file will contain the reports
generated by the MPS Reporting Tool.
4) Please send the CAB to me.

Please send me the information to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:
40384740-Error 80040300 in icwlog.txt.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
