Merv,
I have added the "DisableDHCPMediaSense" DWORD with a value of 1 to the
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters"
branch of the registry on the workstation, let's see if that improves
things, I will check the other machines to see if they have the same gigabit
NICs and if I am still seeing the error then I will change the registry on
those as well.
Many thanks for your help.
Siv

You may want to disable media sensing on the workstation Gigabit NIC:
Cannot connect to domain controller and cannot apply Group Policy with
Gigabit Ethernet devices

Please post an ipconfig /all for both the server and for a
workstation.
Is the SBS server handling DHCP for the network?

Hi,
I keep getting the following error:
"Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer
network. (An unexpected network error occurred. ). Group Policy
processing aborted. "
This appears in the "Critical Errors in Application Log" section of the
"Server Performance Report".
I have googled for it and most entries don't appear to be related to
the conditions, however in one post there was a mention of something to
do with NForce network drivers. The PC running SBS is based on an ASUS
NForce board (M2N32-SLIDeluxe) and does use NForce drivers.
Does anyone know what the fix for this is?
Thanks for your help.
Siv
