The shadow copies are stored in a hidden folder called: System Volume
Information in the root of the drive that stores the shadow copies. You can
configure the SBS Backup Wizard to not back up the shadow copies by
excluding the System Volume Information folder on the target drive:
+ (doubleclick) My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View | uncheck "Hide
protected operating system files"
+ Open Server Management | Backup | Configure Backup | Next | Next | Next |
Exclude Folders | Add folder | (select the target drive or partition) |
(select) System Volume Information
Finish the SBS Backup Wizard.
Of course without a complete backup, if you need to rebuild your SBS server
(or a partition that contains the shadow copies) you will lose all previous
versions of shadowed documents.

I just enabled VSS for my D:. The first copy ran at 9:00 and I see I have
300 mb worth of shadows. I left the location as the default, which I
believe
puts it in the D:. Where do I see this folder of shadowed files? I ask
cause I don't want Backup Utility For Windows to backup the shadow copies.
So I would uncheck the shadow copies folder in backup. Or is the shadow
copies automatically not backed up?
