I'm just a hardware person and never did much with networking.I'll try
to explain my issue but keep in mind i'm really confused and new to
this..
i am working for a real estate company.they have 8 computers in their
office..all hooked into a server pc.
3 days ago a storm burnt out one of their modems, so they bought
another one.
2 days ago, when they start up their server it read an upn error (?)
you had to click ok twice and then connect.then it would connect.
then they noticed sometimes they would get a memory error from this
real estate program called aci, also coming from the server where all
the documents they work on using the aci program on the 8
computers..documents are heald on the ''z'' drive on the server.
now im not the network techi, im just upgrading the hardware and a
other software things..
the network techi came in and created what he calls a script..he gave
me these instructions after i put winxp on all the computers and
upgrades etc.
run
\\mainserver
login.bat
then these instructions
right click my computer
properties
computer name
change domain name
what are these instructions for? the network techi seemed to use cmd a
lot. i was wondering if there were other ways to do all of this? please
break this down for me..
