Re: GFI Mail Essentials V12 and sbs2003r2

Hi Frank,

Thank you for your update.

Do you mean that if you add a new Outlook profile for the problematic use,
the problem will go away?

If yes, it seems that GFI made the user profiles corrupted, and I suggest
you to do the followings for a test.

1. On a problematic user, delete current Outlook profile.
2. Reboot the client computer and see whether a new profile is able to be
created without a problem.

If a new profile cannot be created, do the followings:

1. Open Server Management.
2. Click Client Computers node.
3. Click Assign Applications to Client Computers.
4. Choose the client computer, and click Next.
5. Click Advanced button and make sure Outlook Profile Settings has been
selected.
6. Finish the wizard.

Now reboot client comptuer and see whether a new profile is able to be
created.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply:

1. problem started immediately after the removal of the server based
software, upon the very next opening of Outlook on any user the Offline
was
noted. Offline goes when send/receive selected and comes back immediately
after last mail received or check finished.
2. no difference after reboot of server, no error messages noted.
3. owa works.

I have added a brand new user profile and outlook came up perfectly with
no
offline comment for that user.

Hi Frank,

Thank you for posting here.

To isolate the root cause of this issue, please let us know:

1. When did the problem start to happen? Right after you uninstall GFI
Mail
Essentials?
2. If you reboot the server, will the problem persists? Is there any
error
info during Windows Startup?
3. Are you able to use OWA to send/receive e-mails?

Please understand that non-urgent support and discussion is the nature of

Tried the eval of GFI's Mail Essential V12 on my lab server. Nice simple
install and setup but my test box doesn't have enough memory really run
it.
Removed without a problem but the email on this domain now has offline
for
all outlook users (no other email clients used but Outlook 2003).

Is there a fix for an offline user? All the same subnet. Thanks.
