Hi Larry,
Thanks for the reply. I did try the steps that you had outlined before and
always RDP to this box as it is a remote location (And vice versa back to
SBS).
I am all set with this as there was a second NIC on the secondary DC that
was still registered in DNS and was conflicting, so disabled the seconf nic
and all is good.
Thanks again,

Hi:.
The first thing that stands out in your post is the "hardware error" in your
ping results.
The second thing is that you give no indication that ANY box can ping any
other box on any segment of your lan, or that the VPN tunnel between the
offices is working.
So, first think I think you should do is verify that all the computers in
office 1 can ping each other, and that all the computers in office 2 can
ping each other.
Then verify that you can ping the router in each location.
Then verify that all the computers in each office can ping the ISP default
gateway, or Yahoo.com, or anything outside of the office.
Then verify that you can ping the router at the opposite location.
Then verify that all the computers in office1 and the router are on subnet 1
and that all the computers and the router at office 2 are on subnet 2
If all that works, try to RDP from office2 to the server in office 1.

Hello,
I have a remote office that is connected to SBS2003 via Netgear FVS318 to
Netgear FVS318 Hardware VPN. At head office, i have a second DC (Windows
Server 2003 R2) that i am using for deployment work and will eventually be
used as load balance in Remote office
Client machines cannot ping this second DC from remote office and when i
try
to ping them from second DC i get timeout "Hardware Error"? This applies
to
both NetBios and IP ping
I have tried to flushdns and nothing comes up in Event logs?
I have pasted ipconfig /all from both machines-any help would be greatly
appreciated
Many thanks
