Hello Alex,
Thanks for posting here.
From your problem description, I understand this issue to be: the SBSserver did not receive incoming fax, and you get error 32092. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Regarding this issue, we usually see it when the fax device is not
compatible with the phone line or not compatible with SBS server or not in
the HCL list. Therefore, I strongly suggest you change another modem to
test this issue.
If the issue persists, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we
can resolve this issue:
1. When the value "Rings before answer" is set to 1 ring the modem may not
always answer correctly. Set the value to no less than 2 rings:
A. Start Server Management, and then expand "Fax (Local)".
B. Expand "Devices and Providers", and then click "Devices".
C. In the details pane, right-click the modem that is used for incoming
faxes, and then click "Properties".
D. In the" Rings before answering" box, type "2" (without the quotation
marks), and then click "OK".
Refer to:
839501 You cannot receive some faxes and Event ID 32091 and Event ID 32092
are logged on a Small Business Server 2000-based computer and on a Windows
Small Business Server 2003-based computer
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=839501
2. Reduce the baud rate of the incoming fax modem and see how it goes.
A. Open My Computer -> Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options.
B. On the Modems tab, select your modem from the list and click Properties.
C. On the Advanced tab, click Change Default Preferences.
D. The Port speed is 115200 by default; change it to 9600 and see how it
goes.
3. Try turning off compression. To do this, repeat steps 4.A-4.C above, and
then change Compression to Disabled.
4. In Control Panel, double-click Phone and Modems. Select the modem on the
Modems tab and click Properties. Click Update Driver on the Driver tab, use
the Microsoft Standard 56K Modem driver and see if Fax works.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
1. Does the issue occurs to every income fax? Try sending a fax from
another fax device to SBS, does the issue occur?
2. Enable fax activity logging by following these steps: Open the Shared
Fax Service Manager snap-in, right-click Fax (Local) and choose Properties,
on the Activity Logging tab, enable the "Log incoming fax activity" and the
"Log outgoing fax activity" options. Re-produce the issue and send me the
log files for further analysis.
3. Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe on the server box.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you for your time.
Have a nice weekend!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)
