From your post, I understand that after removing WSUS from SBS 2003 R2,
Performance Report does not work properly. If I have misunderstood your
concern, please feel free to correct me.
Based on my experience, we cannot remove WSUS from R2 features directly.
If
we do so, WSUS cannot be removed clearly. Many problems will be
encountered. Such as that Performance Report does not work since it still
tries to collect WSUS information and WSUS node still appears in Server
Management.
To remove WSUS clearly, we need to remove entire SBS 2003 R2 and then
reinstall it without choosing to install WSUS.
I suggest you perform following steps to see if we can resolve the issue:
1. Go to Add/Remove programs, remove Windows Small Business Server 2003
R2.
2. Insert SBS 2003 R2 CD 6 to reinstall Windows Small Business Server R2.
Please select "No, I want to protect my network on my own" so that WSUS
will not be installed on the server.
If Performance Report does not work after reinstalling R2, I suggest you
try following steps:
Step 1: Reinstall monitoring component:
=========================
1. Remove the Monitoring component:
Control Panel -> Add Remove Program -> Windows Small Business Server 2003.
Set Server Tools to Maintenance. Set Monitoring to Uninstall
2. Remove the Monitoring instance:
Control Panel -> Add Remove Program -> SBSMONITORING (Microsoft SQL Server
Desktop Engine) -> Remove
3. Rename or delete C:\program files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING Folder
For example, rename to C:\program files\Microsoft SQL
Server\old_MSSQL$SBSMONITORING.
4. Remove the following registry keys:
a. Delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Monitoring
b. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL
Server\SBSMONITORING
Reboot the SBS Server.
5. Control Panel -> Add Remove Program -> Windows Small Business Server
2003. Set Server Tools to Maintenance. Set Monitoring to Install.
6. Reboot the SBS Server again.
7. Start the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING and SQLAgent$SBSMONITORING
8. In Server Mangement Console -> Monitoring and Reporting: run the Set
Up
Monitoring Reports and Alerts wizard again, how will things go?
Step 2:
======================
1) From IIS Manager, deleted the following Virtual Directories under WSUS
Administrations
- ClientWebService
- Content
- DssAuthWebService
- ReportingWebService
- SelfUpdate
- ServerSyncWebService
- SimpleAuthebService
- WSUSAdmin
2) From IIS Manager, deleted the WSUSPool application pool
3) Deleted the SUSDB database (C:\WSUS folder)
4) Renamed %Program Files\Update Services folder
5) Removed HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Update Services\ registry key and
subkeys
6) Removed HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Update Services\ registry key and
subkeys
7) Also ensured the following regkeys were not present:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Windows
Server Update Services Service Pack 1
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSUS: Client Web Service
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSUS: Client Web Service Methods
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSUS: Reporting Web Service
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSUS: Server Web Methods
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSUS: Server Web Service
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WsusService
8) Rebooted server
