RE: server blocking access to ftp site

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi Ken,

I agree with Larry that we shall resolve the CEICW issue first.

You can either post the latest CEICW log
(%sbsprogramdir%\Support\icwlog.txt) here or send it to
v-bpeng@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for research.

[Note] If you're going to send e-mail to me, please use the following
subject: SBS Public Newsgroup: server blocking access to ftp site
(40248834). Please also gather an MPS Report. To do so:

1. Download the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE from the following link and then run
this tool to gather some information from the problematic computer:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE

2. Double-click on the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE file.
[Note] This process may take some time; however, it will not have a
negative effect on the performance.

3. A CAB file will be generated in the
%systemroot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab directory called
%COMPUTERNAME%_MPSReports.CAB. The CAB file will contain the reports
generated by the MPS Reporting Tool.

4. Send the .cab file to me.

Thanks & Regards,

Bill Peng

Hi everyone. We have a customer hosted ftp site that we need to download
files from once in a while and for some reason, the server is keeping our
workstations from accessing the site. The server itself is able to connect
to the FTP site. We're using RRAS and I have enabled the FTP Port(21) to
be
accessible and I'm not sure what else would be causing port 21 to be
blocked. All workstation that we've been trying to connect to the site
through all have port 21 open as well. I'm at a loss. If anyone has any
idea
please let me know.
On another note, if I go through the connect to the internet wizard
through
server management, it fails on enabling the firewall. It says that it
encounters an error. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the
firewall or not, but I figured it would be worth figuring out while I'm at
it. The FTP port was opened through the NIC in RRAS under the Firewall/NAT
menu.
Thanks in advance,
Kenkcj
