Re: server blocking access to ftp site

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi:

I think we need to get the CECIW working first.

Can you tell us the exact place and message you get as it fails?

Also, please check the event logs and report any errors that occur there.

Then find the icw.txt file in c:\program files\microsoft windows small
business server\support\icw.txt, rename it icw.old and run the CEICW wiz
again. Open the ICW.txt file and cut and past the contents near the bottem
where it says "failed"

After you get all of that straightened out, any help here with the FTP
issue?

Hi everyone. We have a customer hosted ftp site that we need to download
files from once in a while and for some reason, the server is keeping our
workstations from accessing the site. The server itself is able to connect
to the FTP site. We're using RRAS and I have enabled the FTP Port(21) to
be accessible and I'm not sure what else would be causing port 21 to be
blocked. All workstation that we've been trying to connect to the site
through all have port 21 open as well. I'm at a loss. If anyone has any
idea please let me know.
On another note, if I go through the connect to the internet wizard
through server management, it fails on enabling the firewall. It says that
it encounters an error. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the
firewall or not, but I figured it would be worth figuring out while I'm at
it. The FTP port was opened through the NIC in RRAS under the Firewall/NAT
menu.
Thanks in advance,
Kenkcj
