Hi Doug:
Funny you should ask this. MS CSS replied to a similar question during the
"night" (US time). Pasted below for your convenience. The long and short of
it is that SBS expects to be in a certain position each step of the way,
those steps are well known and documented, and are best maintained by proper
use of the wizards. Once the admin goes outside those parameters, things
start to fall down.
When the connectcomputer wiz began to fail on the SBS in question, something
must have tipped you off. Errors, messages, lack of response. Repairing
that problem and getting back to the "expected condition' would have, and
still may be, the thing to do.

If you're using IP address, the ConnectComputer Wizard won't work. This is
a known issue.
You receive an error message when you try to join your computer to a
Windows Small Business Server 2003 domain

Please post the ipconfig /all result on both your server and a client
computer here. For more info about SBS Connection settings, please see:

There're some other KB articles for your reference;

"The list of users and computers could not be found" error message during
client network configuration in Windows Small Business Server 2003

In addition, please let me know:
1. You said "when i type in the server/connectcomputer it dosent work".
What's the symptom?
2. Is there any error message?
Thanks for your time and we look forward to your update.

Yep, that is what I expect, however what happens when I join the computer
without connectcompter. Just as you would with a normal domain. In this
case it dose not show up in the AD
Why is this and is this a problem and if so how do I fix this???

Hi DOug,
Drill down in MyBusiness\Computers\SBSComputers. That is where the
clients
will be put if they are joined with connectcomputer.

SBS Std.showing
In computer management under client computers all the computers are
up.
Under Advanced Management AD the computers are not there
Questions:
Why??
In some instances I could not do the //server/connectcompter thing as
it
would not allow me to do that. So I joined the computer by adding it
to a
domain under the computer properties etc eg change compter name etc.
This may be the problem, but on other sites this is not the case.
Also I would expect that they all should be in AD and if not is this a
problem??
Any Ideas??
TIA
