RE: Default from address when replying from someone elses mailbox

Thanks. You did understand me correctly & I will look into this as a
possibility.

Here is the problem. My boss wants us to print out all his email for him -
and some emails for him go to our main office email address and some to his,
and I put them in a folder called printed under the user it was sent to, so
that people know they've already been printed out and won't print them again
- but then he has trouble finding them to reply to them, because they could
be in multiple different folders of different users - so I thought I'd
simplify things by getting a copy every email sent to one specific folder for
him so he could find an email he wanted to reply to, in that new "all mail"
user account however if he forgets to delete the username when he responds to
a message I am afraid if someone replies to it under that "all mail" email
address, it will get lost among the "all mail".

Thanks again for your suggestions.

I think i understood how you have things set up, by the sounds of it,
you've created a catchall user account that receives a copy of everyones
emails, now when you send out email from that catchall account you want it to
reflect the person sending the mail, not the catchall account name, right?

so, if i understood this right, what i would suggest doing is, since you
want everyone to have access to all emails, instead of making "All Emails" a
user, make it a distribution group, add everyone to the group, and have all
user accounts forward emails to this group, that way each person receives a
copy of all emails, and when a given individaul replies to an email, the
reply will come from the person who actually wrote it, not the catchall
account...

with everyone receiving a copy of all emails, theres really no need to
search across multiple mailboxes, and, you can use rules to deposit emails
received by a specific user not addressed to them in to separate folders. if
you create the rules server side by logging in to Outlook Web Access and
creating them there, the rules are processed at the time the email is
received, by the server, and are not client dependent.

that should work, provided i understood you right, if i didnt, then this was
a complete waste of time for both you and I.

Hope that helps!

Hi. I just set up all of the emails that come into the office to forward a
copy to a made up user named "All Emails" so that everyone has a folder in
their outlook, that has a copy of all emails that come into the office in it.

I had already had every user set up with an outlook folder with every
person's mailbox in it, but we were frustrated that we could not always find
email messages because we don't always know who an email was sent to or what
folder they've been moved to- and you can't search across multiple email
mailboxes in outlook - so now there will be a copy of every email in one
place to search if you are looking for something.

Is there a way though, when you reply to a message from within that "All
Emails" user outlook folder, to have it either default to the current users
email address (preferred) in the from field, or to our office general email
address (which already has an outlook and windows account with it's name and
I didn't want to use that as the user that gets the copy of all the emails)
