RE: Only 1 Accessible Mailbox via Outlook Web Access

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that a user could not access OWA after its
account was enabled. After performing a restore, the user can access OWA
now, however, other users fail. If I have misunderstood your concern,
please feel free to correct me.

Firstly I would like to confirm that what data was restored by using
Symantec BackupExec? Was any other data restored besides the emails?

I suggest you try following steps to see if it helps:

Step 1: Re-running CEICW:
================
Please open SBS 2003 Server Management, go to Standard Management->To Do
List, click "Connect to the Internet" to bring up CEICW, click Next, select
"Create a new web server certificate" when on the "Web Server Certiciate"
page, do not change the "Web server name" and click Next, go through the
wizard, reboot the server and then check if everything is OK.

Step 2: Check Exchange features for OWA in ADUC.
===============================
a. Open server management console, navigate to SBSUsers and find the
problematic user.

b. Open its' properties page, click Exchange Features tab, is the Outlook
Web Access protocol enabled in the Protocols. Please ensure the Outlook Web
Access protocol enabled for all users. By default, it is enabled for all
mail enabled users.

c. If not, please enable it and test the issue again. What is the result?

d. On the Account tab, click Log On To..., is it set to "The following
computers"? If so, change to "All computers" and then check if the users
can log on to OWA.

Step 3: Check IIS settings
===============
Please refer to following articles to check the IIS settings:

"HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error" Error Message When You Use Outlook Web
Access to Connect to Your Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Mailbox
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829167

I hope the above information is helpful to you. However, if the issue
persists, please help me gather following information:

1. What is the exact error message when accessing OWA site? Please capture
a screen shot of the error message and send to me.

Note: Please ensure capture the whole page of the IE so that I can analyze
the detail error code.

2. Does the issue happen from internal network or internet?

3. Please try Basic OWA access, does the issue happens?

4. If the user who can access OWA logon another computer and try to visit
OWA, what is the result?

5. Please collect the IIS log and metabase on Server for analyze:

a. On Exchange Serves, open IIS MMC, right click Default Web Site and then
click Properties.
b. Click Website tab and then check Enable logging. And click Properties
button, please check all options under the Advanced tab.
c. Stop the Default Website and RENAME the existing IIS log files under
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1.
d. Restart the Default Website and reproduce the problem, which will
generate new IIS log file with the exact error.
e. Wait for 15 minutes so that IIS Log can be synced. And then go to the
following folder on Exchange Server: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1.

f. Send me the log files to my working email address
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx And please let me know Ip address of the
workstation that encountered the issue.

To collect the IIS Metabase for analyze.

a. Download the IIS Resource Kit tools from the following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en
b. Install it, run MBExplorer (Metabase Explorer)
c. Right click the "LM" node and choose "Export to file".
d. Specify a file name, specify the password and finish the export.
e. Send the file and the password to me.

Please compress all files and mail them to my working mailbox:
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

6. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on both the client workstation and the SBS server after reproducing the
issue, then send the generated CAB file to my mailbox
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can find what
the root cause is:

concern, please feel free to let me know.

I appreciate your time. I am happy to be of assistance to you and look
forward to your reply.

| I have a server, using Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard
Edition).
| Last Thursday, when I disabled a user account. And on Friday, I enabled
the
| account. But after I logged on to account, I couldn't access its Exchange
| account using Outlook 2003. Windows kept prompting me error. When I tried
to
| access the mailbox using Outlook Web Access, it gave me an HTTP 500
Internal
| Server Error. I am very sure that I had already enabled the account that
I
| had previously disabled. On the other hand, I could access other mailbox
| using Outlook 2003 or Outlook Web Access, with no problem.
|
| Today morning, I created a new account, and used Symantec BackupExec to
| restore the emails from the problematic mailbox to its mailbox. All the
| emails were successfully restored, and I could access the mailbox via
Outlook
| 2003 and Outlook Web Access. However, now I discover that I can't access
all
| other mailbox using Outlook Web Access. I can access the mailboxes using
| Outlook 2003, but just not Outlook Web Access. It prompts me the HTTP 500
| Internal Server Error. Now, the only mailbox that I can access using
Outlook
| Web Access is the account that I just created.
|
| What should I do?
