Hi Gary,
Thank you for your update. This is Bill and I'm backing up Robert's posts
during his OOF.
Unfortunately, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 no longer supports
Messenger Service Protocol. Please see:
NetBIOS Messenger Service Protocol
http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/intellectualproperty/protocols/protocol
_pages/portal_messenger_service_remote_protocol.html
As always, if you need any assistance in the future, please feel free to
post here again.
Regards,
Bill Peng

Success! At least on the XP Pro workstation. I was unable to locate a
Messenger service on the Vista Business machine, however. Is there another
service I should be looking for in Vista, or is there another method
altogether?
Thank you both for your help so far, I really appreciate it.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for your reply and also for Seth's input.
I fully agree with Seth's suggestion.
By default Messenger service is disabled. You can do the following to
enable that on clients computers:
1. Run services.msc command.
2. Find Messenger service.
3. Double click Messenger service.
4. On the General tab, set Start type to Automatic and click Apply.
5. Click Start button to start the service.
6. Try again to see if the problem is resolved.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesistate to let me know.
