Re: Cannot open the /connectcomputer site

I checked, the only service set to automatic and didn't start was the
performancee logs and alerts service.

There is no connectcomputer site in IIS. I should have mentioned that, but
forgot.

It appears that somewhere during the installation it didn't add that site.

First: Open Admin tools services,

Start | Programs | Admin Tools | services

Click on the header Startup, to put them in startup type order, so that
everything marked Automatic comes to the top, and check to be sure that all
the Automatic ones are actually started.

Then, just for grins, what happens if your do this:

Start | Programs | Admin Tools | IIS

On the left you should see:
IIS
Server Name
Application Pools
Web Sites (green globe with no red ! on it.)
Connect Computer

RClick Connect Computer | Open

Select Start from the list, DBLCLK

IE should open the cc site and force you to allow the Active X controls to
run, and you should see the "connect to the network" wiz.

Is that what happens?

Still no errors in your event logs?

Hi Xandor:

Can you please give us the essence of the error message that you get?

Also, what errors are in the event logs on the server?

Reboot the server and see if either the problem goes away, or if the
event
logs replicate the errors if any.

Sorry, I was about to update this:

I can get to http://<servername>, but I'm getting an error 404 when I
click
on the network configuration wizard. I see the directory on the
server,
but
I don't think that it's configured right in IIS, cause I don't see that
site
there.

Hi Xandor:

Am I interpeting your post correctly to mean that from a workstation
on
the
same subnet as your SBS server you open IE and try to access
http://servername/connectcomputer and nothing happens?

Something must happen. Errors in IE, errors in the event log viewer
of
either the workstation or the server.

Can you ping the ip address of the internal nic in the server from
this
or
any other workstation?

I've just installed Windows SBS 2003, but I cannot get to the
/connectcomputer site. It appears as if the site isn't there. I
went
and
tried reinstalling the components again, but still no luck.

Otherwise, everythinig's ok.
