are you using V5.1 of the RDC? ... if so upgrade the RDC to 5.2 or higher
as printer redirection in 5.1 wasn't that flash.

Hi:
I am trying to print via RDC using a PPTP VPN connection from my client to
a
SBS network. I have attempted it on the Terminal server and a client
machine. For some reason the printer on my home PC as well as the CEO of
the
company will not install. When I log in from my office however using a
Vista
machine the default printer on my laptop works great. It only seems to be
XP
machines and it is network wide.
I have done the following:
turned off firewall on home system
added to trusted sites
I can ping the IP of the remote PC from the target PC on my network
when I go into add printers I can see the printer but it will not install.
I get the following error " windows cannot connect to the printer. either
the
printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost its
connection to the server"
I cannot however ping the home PC by name.
Thanks,
Charles
