Hi Laurin,
Thanks for your reply.
Please also try the following:
Step 1: Please try the SharePoint SMTP setting:
1. Open SharePoint Central Administration page in 'Administrative Tools'.
2. Go to Sharepoint Central Administration - Server Configuration -
Configure default
e-mail server settings.
3. Make sure that he local SBS server's address (ServerName.domain.local)
has been configured as 'Outbound SMTP server'.
4. Go to Virtual Server Configuration\Configure Virtual Server Settings -
Companyweb\Virtual Server Management - Virtual server
e-mail settings.
5. Make sure that he local SBS server's address (ServerName.domain.local)
has been configured as 'Outbound SMTP server'.
Step 2: Test the SMTP service on the SBS server. Open a command prompt,
input 'telnet 127.0.0.1 25'. Try to send an e-mail by using the SMTP
command. What's the result? For the detailed SMTP commands, please refer to
the following KB article:
153119 XFOR: Telnet to Port 25 to Test SMTP Communication
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=153119
Step 3: Please make a clean boot to make sure the problem is not caused
third party software:
1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter.
2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable
All third party Services.
3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items.
4. Click OK and choose Restart.
5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs.
6. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root cause
of this issue.
Help this helps.
Please try the suggestions and let me know the result.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,
Robert Li(MSFT)

<Hi Laurin,
<
<Thanks for your reply.
<
<Based on my research for the error message:
<
<The user or users have been added successfully, but there was an error in
<sending the e-mail message. The server may not be set up correctly to send
<e-mail. To verify that e-mail is configured correctly, contact your server
<administrator.
<
<Please take the following steps:
<
<Step 1: The problem occurs when the Web site was using a bound IP address.
<Please change it to back to "All
<Unassigned".
<
<1. Open IIS console.
<2. Right click on the Default Web site and selected "Properties".
<3. On the Web Site tab, change the IP address to back to "All Unassigned".
<4. Check again.
<
<Step 2: If you have Mcafee virus scan 8.0, the software has an option to
<block any application from relaying on port
<25 (SMTP). Please temporally disable that and try again.
<
<Please try my suggestions and let me know the result.
