Hello Stefano,
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand that after adding a laptop running Vista tothe domain, following issues are encountered:
1. The user did not receive the email from "Windows Small Business Server
Team"
2. The client cannot connect to OWA and RWW.
3. No VPN connection was created.
If I have misunderstood your concern, please feel free to correct me.
This issue can be caused by several factors. I suggest you try following
steps to see if the issue can be resolved:
Suggestion 1: Re-running CEICW on SBS server:
=============================
Let's re-run CEICW to reset the network configuration. Please refer to
following article to do this.
How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us
NOTE: Please do not choose "do not change".
Also re-run Configure Remote Access wizard:
1. Open the server management and come to TO DO LIST
2. Run the 'Configure Remote Access' and allow VPN usage
Suggestion 2: Installing following update:
==================
1. Please manually install following update:
Update for Windows Small Business Server 2003: Windows Vista and Outlook
2007 compatibility (KB926505)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9BF2F1E4-1B2C-471B-
A284-E0C8C169FAC3&displaylang=en
2. After that, please remove the Vista client from client computers in
Server Management.
3. On Vista client, remove it from the domain.
4. User Set Up Client Computers wizard in Server Management to re-add the
Vista client.
5. Visit http://YourServerName/connectcomputer on the Vista client to
reconnect it to the domain.
6. After connecting the computer, please check if the issue persists.
In addition, there should be a file named sbspackage.exe on the desktop.
Please run it to create the VPN connection.
I hope the above steps are helpful. However, if the issue persists, please
help me gather following information:
1. Please let me know if the issue happens on all the Vista clients.
2. If log on the user on another Vista client, does the issue persists?
3. Do the Windows XP clients work properly?
4. Please try to visit following addresses and check if they can be
accessed:
http://YourServerName
http://ServerIPaddress
https://YourServerName/Remote
https://YourServerName/Exchange
5. What error messages were received? Please capture some screenshots of
them:
To capture the image, we can perform the steps below:
(a) When the error message appears, press the Print Screen key several
times (this key is located to the right of the F12 key on the keyboard)
(b) Open Paint ['start' => 'All Programs' => 'Accessories' => 'Paint'].
(c) Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
(d) Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a .jpg or .gif file and send it
to me as an attachment.
6. Please also download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run
it on the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to my mailbox
v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can find what
the root cause is:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE

7. Please gather MPS Report on the Vista client:
1) Open a command prompt using an Admin Token
a) Select the start menu button
b) In "Start Search" type cmd.exe
c) Right mouse click cmd and select "Run as administrator"
2) In the command prompt type "cd windows\mpsreports\dirsvc\bin"(without
the quotes)
3) Type "notepad commands.txt" (without the quotes)
4) Find "Dump Events Collection of Event Logs in EVT format ALL ALL
Internal ALL"
NOTE: This will be on line 22
5) Place a ' (key to the left of enter) in front of "'Dump Events
Collection of Event Logs in EVT format ALL ALL Internal ALL"
NOTE: This will REM the command out so that it does not run when
the mpsrpt.vbs calls commands.txt
6) Select File > Save to overwrite the old commands.txt file
7) Run MPSReports by typing "cscript mpsrpt.vbs" (without the quotes) in
the command prompt used to edit commands.txt
Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Manfred Zhuang(MSFT)

| I just added a laptop running Vista "Premium" to our Domain; I was able
to
| join the network, Outlook connected to Exchange with no issue, the new IE
| page is http://companyweb/default.aspx and, under "Favorites" I see the
new
| shortcuts for "Remote Email Access" etc.
| The problem is that the user did not receive the email from "Windows
Small
| Business Server Team" and I am unable to connect to the server both
using
| OWA and RWW. Also I noted that no VPN connection was created on the
client;
| any idea how to push it to the laptop?
| Thanks in advance
