for the past few weeks 90% of spam has been getting through the filters on
the sbs2k3 std. last week i did a migration to a new box and i believe
that
all is configured properly, including IMF v2. I re-installed Trend Micro
SMB
and it had it's spam filter turned on by default. I turned it off in the
meantime because i thought it might be conflicting with IMF.
Outlook clients are now getting Synch errors, have 3 spam folders each.
one is the Junk-Email Folder, a 'Spam Folder' and a 'Spam Mail' folder,
both
of these with an 'Approved Sender List' entry in them, no entries in the
list. Synch fails trying to synch these folders. I can not delete them, do
not know where they originate. Many users configured their Junk Email
options
with approved senders and blocked senders. I tried increasing the size of
Spam Rules on the server according to the IMF v2 operations guide from Feb
7,
2007, but that resulted in exchange client errors, stating that there junk
email options could not be synched.
I do not want them synched, i don't want errors either. i want the server
to
handle any filtering before the email ever makes it to the client's junk
email filters.
With all of these options set, IMF fully configured and such, the spam
goes
into the inbox, never makes it to the junk email folder...
I hope that someone is familiar with the issues that i am describing and
can
assist me in cleaning up the mess. I did extensive searches on tech net
and
trend micro and could not find anything close to what i am experiencing.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I am hoping for some
advice.
