Yes, it could be bad sectors on hard drive.

Had this same issue at a client.
Dell server and Dell pc.
initially, copied profile on server, deleted contents of original profile
and user logon ok for a few weeks then comes back.
previous posts in here about server broadcom net work cards needing updates.
This Dell server has intel however the pc had broadcom so went to broadcom
and downloaded updated driver and no issues since.
Client also commented that their Sage software has run much better also.
Could it be a network driver / update. ?
Initially though, copy profile on server, delete original contents and get
user to log on shut down / restart.
Let us know how u get on
