Re: SBS blue screen

Disabling automatic restart on error worked a treat and I could read the stop error:

Unmountable_Boot_Volume

Stop error:
(0X8A2D4428, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Is this likely to be a filesystem corruption issue or failing hardware? What are the chances of recovering data and how would I go about doing so?

The BSOD is too quick to read anything from, SBS is loading away and then there is a blue screen that flashes accross the screen but the system re-boots too quickly to read any of the codes.

There as been no changes to the system, no new hardware or software, so I am well stumped as to why this has happened.

I dont mind having to re-install, well i do but a whole lot less than loosing everything so I am wondering how to best approach this, I do have a number of system backups but would like to be able to re-install non destructively so all the current data remains, is this possible? Can a fresh copy be installed over the top of the current installation replacing system files but not user data. I do this occasionally with client systems and it would be so handy right at this moment!

First, are there any new devices in or on the server. USB keys, new anything that you can take off/out.

Second, does the blue screen give you any codes? It is possible that if you/we lookup the code we may be better able to help.

Usually these are of the type stop_error_name: Numbers (parameter1, 2, 3, 4)

Also sometimes helpful are the last programs loaded, as shown at the bottem of the page.

I so hope someone has a clue about this! I am running SBS 2003 but today it crashed and now will not boot, blue screens on every attempt. Last knowng good config fails as does safe mode, what is the proceedure with something like this? I assume it will invlove re-building but I have a lot of data that is needed (files in shared directory, exchange emails, public folders and calendar), RAID 0 configuration, any ideas will be MOST appreciated!
