Hello Dave,
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand that after changing the Display Name of theusers, the emails still show the old display name. If I have misunderstood
your concern, please feel free to correct me.
Firstly I would like to confirm that do you send the emails from OWA or
from Outlook?
Let's try following steps and check if it works:
Suggestion 1: Manually update recipients' information:
==============================
This issue can be caused by that the user information has not been updated.
1. Open Exchange System Manager.
2. Expand to DomainName-->Recipients-->Recipient Update Services
3. Right click Recipient Update Service in the right pane and click Update
Now.
NOTE: If there are multiple entries in the right pane, please update all of
them.
4. Wait for an hour and check if the issue persists.
Please send an email from OWA and check if the Display Name is correct.
Suggestion 2:
===========================
1. Open Exchange System manager
2. Navigate to YourServer\Global Settings\Internet Message Formats
3. In the right panel, please open the default entry properties page
4. In the Advanced tab, please ensure "Preserve sender's display name on
message" is checked.
5. Click OK
If you send emails from Outlook, please try following steps:
Suggestion:
=================
When you user Outlook connect to your Exchange server and send a message,
it will look up your logon name under AD (GC) and then get back the display
name specified in the user's properties. If you have received emails from a
sender before, the sender's display name are saved in cache files. Next
time you receive the emails from him/her, the display name will be get from
the cache file. Therefore, let's clean the cache file on the recipients'
computer and check if it works:
Step 1: Rename nickname cache
==============================
1. Click "Start", point to "Search".
2. Click "All Files and Folders" and click "More Advanced Options" and
make sure the following options are checked:
--Search System Subfolders
--Search Hidden files and folders
--Search Subfolders
3. In the "All or Part of the File Name" box, type ".NK2" (without the
quotation marks) and click "Search".
4. Rename the file to "<profilename>.bak", and then press ENTER.
5. Restart Outlook. Outlook will generate a new nickname cache.
6. Test the issue.
Step 2:
============
Outlook performs a full download of Offline Address Book every 24 hours.
You may want to manually download the Offline Address Book so that it will
show the changed display name immediately in Outlook. To do so:
1. On the Exchange server
A. Start the Microsoft Exchange System Manager.
B. Click to expand your server\Recipients\Offline Address Lists.
C. Right-click Default Offline Address list and click Rebuild.
2. On the Outlook client
A. Close Outlook, and then delete all the .OAB files. In most cases,
they're stored under the "%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook" folder.
B. Start Outlook, click Tools, Send/Receive, and then choose "Download
Address Book".
C. In the pop-up window, ensure "Full Details" and "\Global Address List"
are selected.
D. Ensure the "Download Changes Since the last Send/Receive" check box is
NOT selected, and then click OK.
I hope the above information is helpful to you. However, if the issue
persists, please help me gather following information:
1. Please let me know if the issue happens on all the users or only happens
on specific users.
2. Please send me an Exchange MPS report
a. Visit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE to download the file.
b. Run the MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE on the server box.
c. Wait for 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows explorer, navigate to %SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Exchange\cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
