RE: terminal server licensing issue.

Hello Joe,

Thank you for posting here, and thanks for Cris's inputs.

According to your description, I understand that you get error when you try
to add a terminal server to SBS domain. If I have misunderstood the
problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

First, Cris is correct, we recommend to install the terminal server
licensing on SBS, please perform the action and have a test.

Based on my research, the SBS domain is different from the standard windows
domain, when you add the terminal server to SBS domain, we have to perform
the particular steps in the following document:

Deploying Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server to Host User Desktops
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sbs/2003/deploy/adstrmsr.mspx

Deploying Windows 2000 Server Terminal Server to Host User Desktops in a
Windows Small Business Server 2003 Environment
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServerSolutions/SBS/en/library/0aaf4916
-0446-4335-a302-9facf9b1a8eb1033.mspx?mfr=true

If you still cannot add the terminal server to SBS domain thru the above
document, please kindly help me collect some information for further
investigation:

1. Gather MPS network report on SBS:

a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE

b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe on the server box.

c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.

d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\

e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

2. Please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures
to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| I installed a win2k3 terminal server with 10 user cals, activated the
server
| and installed the client licenses (I installed the ts license server on
the
| ts server) . I did all this _outside_ our sbs2k3 domain. The server was
| working great. I then took the server and joined it to the domain. When
I
| did this the server started telling me I have a license issue.
| Specifically: "No terminal sever license server was found on the
network.
| This terminal server will stop issuing temporary licenses to clients 120
| days...."
|
| What can I do to fix this?
|
| Thank you,
| Joe
