Yes, ALWAYS use the wizards with SBS (users, computers, security groups,
distribution groups, backups....an anything else). There is a lot going on
behind the scene that is done for you.
If you do want a special IP for your server, just put it back into a
workgroup and join it again. Before you joint it, have a look at your DNS
zone and make sure that the server is gone in the forward and reverse zone.

My first request is normally to post an ipconfig /all from servers and
clients. I wish I would have done this here too.
Yes, the only DNS on every computer in the LAN is the LAN address of
the SBS box. Also the WAN NIC of the SBS box should point to the LAN
address for the DNS. The external (ISP) DNS servers are entered under
the FORWARDER TAB of the DNS server properties tab.
Changing the DNS to point to the SBServer seems to have solved my problem
seeing Domain Users when adding Shares or joining groups.
Forget my suggestion under your printer problem thread. The printer
issue is going to be fixed as well.
I am used to joining Clients to Domains with the Control Panel Systems
applet. That's how I originally joined the Windows 2003 Storage Server
to the SBServer.
When I went back and checked under the Server Management, the Storage
Server was added to the list view under Server Computers. I figured it
was joined correctly.
Today I followed one of your earlier suggestions and reconfigured the
Storage Server join to the SBS Domain. I changed the Storage Server to
part of a workgroup, then deleted it from the Server Computers area and
rebooted the SBServer. I then added it through the Server Computer
Wizard.
The Server Computer wizard said not to add a new static IP address
computer where the existing IP address was alrady in use, so I changed
the IP addr of the Storage Server to a temporary number. I figures the
Wizard would change the IP address to the one I typed in under the
wizard. It didn't and now I have an IP number that I didn't want to use
for the Storage Server, but everything works better. I thought about
trying to force the IP address I wanted for the Storage Server, but it
seems that SBS likes you to use the Wizards... so I left it.
The Control Panel Systems applet seems to join Client computers to the
SBS domain correctly. Is it still better to use the
http://sbsservername/ConnectComputer method?
