Re: Computer used by multiple users, same login

I'm normally not crazy about letting people share logins for a couple of
reasons. Lack of auditing is one, but also to retain the integrity of
people's own files. For example, if I create a document, it's work product
of my firm, and someone else could have a valid reason to use it. However,
I need to have confidence that my saved copy has not been edited or altered
without my knowledge, and that it will be there when I go to use it.
If those types of objections didn't apply, I see no reason not to do exactly
what you're proposing. As long as you're aware of the security
implications, and you're careful not to inadvertently give the generic
account more access than you intend, I'd go ahead and do it.

I have a few areas where a PC will have a generic login (one that multiple
users will have)...say in our warehouse receiving area, where multiple
users share the same pc and only a few actually have email or need to
access sharepoint.
I'm thinking to create this generic user account without a mailbox and
without access to sharepoint, I create it the conventinal way (not using
the wizard.) This user account will be setup to only login into this PC
and will not have an exchange or sharepoint account. That way anyone on
this pc that happens to need owa or access to sharepoint can login with
their account when they access that particular site. Anyone run into this
scenario and is this a resonable solution within SBS?
