RE: RWW and SharePoint not running

Hello Mike,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that you removed Norton 360 and installed
another antivirus software on a client workstation. Now all the websites in
IIS cannot be started on the SBS server. When attempting to start them, it
said that there is a port conflict. In addition, Remote access wizard does
not work either. If I have misunderstood your concern, please feel free to
correct me.

This issue can be caused by that the 80 port is being used by another
software on the SBS server. Thus IIS cannot listen to this port.

I suggest you try following steps to see if the issue can be resolved.

Step 1: Re-running CEICW on SBS server:
=============================
Let's re-run CEICW to reset the network configuration. Please refer to
following article to do this.

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us

Step 2: Changing the port and checking if the issue persists
==========================
a. Open Internet Information Services MMC
b. Right click on companyweb and choose properties

Please check if the TCP port is 80 and the SSL port is 444. If not, please
change them to 80 and 444 and check if companyweb can be started.

If the TCP port is already 80 and the SSL port is 444, let's move on:

c. Change TCP port to 81.
d. Ensure IP address is internal IP address
e. Please check if the website can be started.
g. If yes, check if the client can access following address:

http://companyweb:81

Step 3: Prepare a Clean Boot environment.
=================
1. Click Start and Click Run, and in the "Open" line, type in "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks) and click OK.
2. Under the Service tab, check "Hide All Microsoft Services", and then
click "Disable All" button. In this way, we can disable all the services
which belong to third-party programs.
3. Under the Startup tab, click "Disable All" button.

4. Click OK.
5. Choose Yes to restart the computer.
6. Check "Don't show this message or launch the system configuration
utility when Windows starts".
7. Please check if the sites can be started in the clean boot environment.

NOTE: We can check on Normal Startup in the General tab to roll back to
Normal Mode after we get this issue resolved.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. If the problem still
occurs, please help me gather following information:

1. Is ISA Server installed on the computer?
2. Please help me capture screenshots of all error messages you encountered
and send them to me so that I can make a further research.

To capture the image, we can perform the steps below:

(a) When the error message appears, press the Print Screen key several
times (this key is located to the right of the F12 key on the keyboard)

(b) Open Paint ['start' => 'All Programs' => 'Accessories' => 'Paint'].

(c) Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.

(d) Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a .jpg or .gif file and send it
to me as an attachment.

4. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on both the SBS server and the problematic client workstations, then send
the generated CAB file to my mailbox v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further
investigation so that we can find what the root cause is:

5. Please send me the IIS Metabase. You can collect Metabase by using
mbexplorer.

a. Install MBExplorer by installing IIS 6 Resource Kit Tools:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en.

b. Once it is installed, access it from Start, Programs, IIS Resources,
Metabase Explorer.

c. In the left pane, right click ''LM'' (under your server computer name)
to choose ''Export to file'', and then save it as SBSIIS.mbk.

d. Compress this mbk file and send it to me

6. Send me the port information:

A: Download Portqry command line tool from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=89811747-c74b-4638-
a2d5-ac828bdc6983&DisplayLang=en

B: Install it on the SBS server box.
C: Start-->Run-->cmd, in the command prompt, input the following commands:
cd \portqryv2 (This is the default install path)
portqry -local > c:\port1.txt

D: Send the txt file to my mailbox v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,
