Hello Tom,
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand that after logon the computer for a while, thedisplay name in the Start Menu is changed to the logon name automatically
and Outlook connection to the Exchange server becomes very slow. If I have
misunderstood your concern, please feel free to correct me.
Based on your description, the issue is really weird for us. The
troubleshooting can be complex and time-consuming. Your time and patience
will be highly appreciated.
If the issue is urgent to your business, it is recommended that you contact
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated
Support Professional can assist you recover the server in a more efficient
manner. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged
call.
For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Support Services phone numbers
and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web
site:

Firstly I suggest you re-run CEICW to reset the network configurations on
the SBS server and check the user account settings:
Step 1: Re-running CEICW on SBS server:
=============================
Let's re-run CEICW to reset the network configuration. Please refer to
following article to do this.
How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us
Step 2: Checking the user account settings
==========================
1. When the issue happens, logon on the SBS server as an Administrator.
2. Click Start-->Administrative Tools-->Server Management
3. Click Users in the left pane
4. Right click your user account in the right pane and click Properties.
5. In the General tab, please check if the display name is correct and let
me know the result.
If the issue persists, please gather following information for me:
Please understand that they are important for us to narrow down the cause.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
1. Does the issue happen at the same time on multiple PCs?
2. Does the issue happen on specific users or happen randomly? Please
create a new user and check if the issue happens for the new user account.
3. Please let me know when this issue first occurred, and if there were any
software or network connection changes before it occurred.
4. Please let me know the detailed information of the network topology.
5. Is the problematic computers pointing to only the SBS server for DNS?
All client computers on an SBS 2003 network must use the IP address of the
SBS internal NIC for DNS
resolution. The alternative DNS option should not be configured on the
client computers.
6. Please ping the SBS server when the issue happens and let me know the
result.
7. Please logon a user account locally other than logging to the domain and
check if the display name is changed automatically.
8. When the connection to the Exchange server is slow, if leave the PC
alone, will the issue be self-resolved after a while?
9. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on both the SBS server and the problematic client workstations, then send
the generated CAB file to my mailbox v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further
investigation so that we can find what the root cause is:

concern, please feel free to let me know.
