Hi Scott,
Thank for posting in our newsgroup.
From your description, I know that when you synchronize with SBS 2003, youget error:
The server you are synchronizing with is not an Exchange ActiveSync server,
or is running incompatible software. Specify the correct server in
ActiveSync
Options.
Error code HTTP_404
If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Please let me know the following to make the situation more clearly:
1. Do all users or some specific ones have this problem?
2. Do you have ISA installed?
3. What important change did you made before this first occurred?
Based my experience, the problem may be corrupt IIS Virtual Directory. If
the problem cannot be resolved at last, we need to reset the exchange
related directories.
How to reset the default virtual directories that are required to provide
Outlook Web Access, Exchange ActiveSync, and Outlook Mobile Access services
in Exchange Server 2003

Please take the following steps to narrow down this issue:
Step 1: Please make sure your i-mate has valid internet connection. You
could just test the OMA by visiting http://mail.companyname.com/oma
Step 2: Since non secured Active Sync uses port 80, please check if this
port is blocked.
telnet mail.companyname.com 80
Can you see error messages?
Step 3: The problem may be caused by incorrect IIS setting, please help me
collect the following information for further research:
Gather IIS Metabase:
1) Download the IIS Resource Kit tools from the following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en
2) Install it, run MBExplorer (Metabase Explorer)
3) Right click the "LM" node and choose "Export to file".
4) Specify a file name, specify the password and finish the export.
5) Send the file and the password to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:
39976639-Active synch error.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,
Robert Li(MSFT)
