All you need to do is to add the users to the local admin group of the
computer they are using.

Hi all,
I have an issue at a site I have just started looking after regarding
software installation. They are a small operation, with only 4 users, and
an SBS2003 server. All of the PC's are logging onto the domain, and as
such, are unable to install software on their PC.
Being a small, fairly autonomous office, they want to be able to install
software on their machines as they see fit, but can only do so at the
moment by logging off their profile, logging on as administrator,
installing the software, then logging back on as themselves.
This is a pain, and I would like to change it. The other thing is, an app.
for a new MFP they have recently purchased will install when logged in as
admin, and run when logged in as admin, but won't run properly when logged
in as the user (They are even a member of 'Domain Power Users'.)
I am no expert, but thought that it must be a setting in Group Policy
which is limiting their ability. I can't see anything in there (GP) to do
with restricting software installation etc. I even tried adding a user
temporarily to the 'Administrators' group on the server, but still
couldn't install the software, getting the 'error 1033 insufficient
privileges etc.'
At this stage I am seriously considering removing the 4 PC's from the
Domain and re-setting up the profiles locally, but if anyone can give me
any pointers as to how I tell SBS to let them install software easily on
their machines, that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Scott
