Re: Removing hotfix's / Service packs from the C: drive to create

In the Windows folder, they may be hidden.

I usually move them to another drive in a folder called "uninstall".

Forgot to ask - where do I find these service packs / hotfix's on the C:
drive?

As simple as that? I thought it would be more complex, many thanks.

Hi,

We have a Dell Optoplex Server with 5 disks in raid 5 configuration,
using
DELL's disk setup manager software Windows sees 3 x logical hard

D:, E:. C: is a 20GB disk holding on the whole the operating systems
and
operating system items etc. Over the years with service packs,
hotfix's the
amount of free space has now reduced right down to 3.5GB.

So as not to get caught out with disk out of space messages I would
like to
increase the size of the disk. I can do this by using DELL's disk
manager by
allocating more un-allocated disk space to the C: drive but this
would
require a full backup, reformat the raid and using DELL's disk
manager
reallocating new disk space to the C: drive.

I believe that there is a way to move the hotfix's / service pack's
away
from the C: drive which will free up space and still allow the
operating
system to find them.

Can anyone help me with this?

Yes, just move them. They're only needed for uninstalling, so you could
probably delete any which are more than a few months old, but 'never
throw anything away' is a good default IT policy.
