Hey Paula - long time no see! How's thing in the big city?

Who's that? I'm Lanwench. :)

Thanks for the tip - sounds perfect! Users will grouch about
*something* no matter what anyways - like you said, it's the actual
access that matters ;-D

Take Care and thanks again,

Certain users can use certain PCs - basically we have 3 groups -
Design (AutoCAD users) Engineering (mainly db stat stuff) and
General, for example it's useless for a designer to hook into a
machine without AutoCAD installed, or for a Engineer to hook into a
machine without Access installed in order to run the mde.
Also some machines need to be excluded altogether from the list, as
no one should EVER remote into those (the owner's PC for instance)

Hey, Susan!

Create AD security groups if you don't already have them, for
Engineering, AutoCAD, General.

In each computer's "Remote Desktop Users" group (which you can
centrally access / manage from the server, in server management, by
right-clicking/manage computer), add only the appropriate groups,
removing whatever you *don't* want in there.

I imagine the owner might want to log into his own workstation, so
you could add DOMAIN\User to his remote desktop users group.

I'd leave Administrators in there, for troubleshooting.

So - this way, big deal if everything shows up in the list of
available PCs! They can all show up, but users won't be able to log
into anything they aren't supposed to.

Thanks Cris!

Susan are you looking only use 1 or 2 PCs for anyone to use for
RWW OR
Are you looking to limit which PC's a particular user can logon to?

Hi all,

Now that everyone is loving RWW, folks are starting to fight over
PC's when out of the office <sigh>. So management has asked me to
basically micromanage RWW. The normal create user wizard throws
everyone in the RWW group, which is automagically assigned to all
computers. And add computer puts the PC in the RWW accessible list
for all those users. Nice! Until now <grin>

What exactly do I need to do if I only want Users A and B to be
able to access PC1 and PC2 via RWW? Will this limit the list of
available PC's when they log in to the website? I can already see
them freaking out and calling me at home at half past midnight
to complain when they can only access PC1 and PC2, nevermind if
they still see 28 machines in the list and can only access those
2... TIA, I really appreciate any tips!

SusanV
